Dr. Barbara Davis, Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs at PLT, Quoted in Wall Street Journal

Barbara Davis, PhD, RD, Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs at PLT Health Solutions, was quoted in the featured article on the cover of the Personal Journal section of The Wall Street Journal.  The article, entitled “Do These Count As Vegetables?”, covers various snacks that feature “healthy” ingredients, such as vegetables, seaweed and brown rice.

In the article, Dr. Davis commented about the about the importance of looking at calories, fat grams and sodium levels, as well as the good-for-you ingredients: “ ‘If calories and grams of fat and levels of sodium are what you are concerned with, then there aren’t huge differences’ between many commercial snacks and the better-for-you niche brands.”  She also commented about a comparison of serving size amounts of nacho cheese tortilla chips and a “more healthful” version of the tortilla chips: “You have to really adhere to a serving size.”
